A slinger signaller is the eyes and ears of the crane operator who may not be able to see everything happening around them. It is one of the most important jobs on a site as one of the main responsibilities is to communicate with the crane operator to reduce loading and lifting risks in the work environment. This is usually done through a series of hand signals so the crane can be manoeuvred in a safe way. Weather such as fog or heavy rain can mean that other methods will need to be used, like batons or radios. As well as this, a slinger signaller will also have the authority to halt operations if they deem the work will be too dangerous.
